  4. 2012 Chev 3.6 3000 miles works well on Pennzoil full synthetic. their customer service says it meets Dextos spec but not printed on bottle to save money.
To keep things simple, I wanted to also use same oil in my 2004 Buick LeSabre 3.6 with 25,000 miles. Started leaking soon after I changed oil. Next oil change the old 10w30 recommended was put in. Leaking stopped within days. I do oil changes myself on a time basis of 4 times per year.
Realizing this is one off, but oil leak is oil leak. Happy I did not ruin a rear main seal or something else expensive.

  7. Not too long ago at O’Reillys I had to deal with some moron customer who’s Toyota took 0W-20 and he bought instead 5W-50. And he was all trying to tell me that when he was 20 years old he work at some kind of oil place in San Antonio and they would test many different viscosity oil‘s in engines. He was trying to prove to me that he knew exactly what he was talking about but by the looks of it it looks like that was over 25 years ago because he was in his 40s I would say. And what made me realize he had no idea what he’s talking about is when he said the W stand for water and I told him it stands for winter.

  10. Any information on high zinc oils? Every time someone in my Jeep group asks what oil to use, all the young people break out the manual and say “Synthetic 5w30 or 10w40 depending on ambient temperature” while all the old farts say “15w40 Rotella for extra zinc.” If I have a motor with flat tappets AND a catalytic converter, do I wreck the tappets with synthetic oil or do I wreck the cat with ZDTP?
    I have a 1990 Wrangler 2.5L TBI, for reference.
